Resetting Pinnacle Studio 19
Resetting Pinnacle Studio can remove issues with the software and bring it back to its original state. The information on this page was provided courtesy of Jeff Naylor and PinnacleStudio.info.
This section covers Pinnacle Studio 19 and assumes you are running version 19.0.2 of Studio. If you are not running 19.0.2 visit our patch history page to update the software first. The steps for resetting Pinnacle Studio 16 and Pinnacle Studio 17 are different.
Pinnacle Studio 19 now offers two built-in features which allows users to reset some of the settings of the program.
The Reset Option
This reset option is available from the Control panel. It has the same effect as deleting the Settings XML file in previous versions of Pinnacle Studio. Using this option will clean things up if you have a corrupt project that is causing Pinnacle Studio to crash. It will reset the Watchfolders and import the folders list. If a corrupt or non-compatible file is causing problems this will allow you to eliminate it since resetting the program also disables Watchfolders. If you have Studio 18 installed using this option will import the collections from Pinnacle Studio 18 to Pinnacle Studio 19.
The Library Option
- Go to AppData>Local> Pinnacle_Studio_17>Studio>17.0>NGDatabase
This reset option is available from the Organize tab. It has the same effect as deleting the NGDatabase folder in previous versions of Pinnacle Studio. Using this option will delete all of your metadata. If Pinnacle Studio is crashing a lot you may want to give this tool a try.
A Complete Reset
If you would rather do a complete reset which will affect everything mentioned above as well as audio waveforms, stabilization data and more take a look at the Resetting Pinnacle Studio 18 instructions on Jeff Naylor's Website. When looking for the files on your computer substitute Pinnacle Studio 19 where ever it says Pinnacle Studio 18.
